1. KCRW’s Summer Nights brings free, all-ages shows to some of the most iconic venues and cultural centers in Los Angeles all summer long. They continue this Friday at CAAM with KCRW DJs Garth Trinidad + Aaron Byrd. FREE
2. The Los Angeles Zoo’s annual after-hours music series, Roaring Nights, is back for summer 2019. Come experience a party atmosphere featuring DJs, bands, a Silent Disco combined with animal talks and feedings plus a number of food trucks. Check for discounted tickets before making your purchase. 3. Summer Nights in the Garden returns to the Natural History Museum this weekend. Sip garden-inspired cocktails, listen to live music, take garden tours and more. Tickets are free to this series and can be obtained online. FREE
4. The Game Changers Outdoor Movie Screening Series comes to The Ford Theatres in Hollywood June 27 – 30 for four-nights of groundbreaking cinema and television underneath the stars. Presented by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the goal of the series is to showcase media that has impacted diversity and narrative storytelling in monumental ways. 5. Shakespeare By The Sea will once again offer a ten-week program of admission-free performances with two featured productions: The Comedy of Errors and Henry V at a variety of venues across Los Angeles Thursday through Saturday. FREE
6. Friday Night Block Party at L.A. LIVE presented by Absolut features 20+ pop-up shops, live art and street performers and select $5 food and drink menus at participating L.A. LIVE restaurants. FREE

8. The Music Center’s Dance DTLA features live music and/or DJs paired with expert dance instructors providing beginner group dance lessons for attendees. Each night has a different dance theme. The series continues with a Bachata theme on the Grand Park Performance Lawn. Dance DTLA continues on select Fridays through August 30. FREE
9. Shakespeare on the Bluff brings Shakespeare’s greatest plays to Loyola Marymount University and Playa Vista Concert Park for free shows in June. As You Like It will be performed on Friday and Saturday at LMU and Sundays show will take place at Playa Vista Concert Park. FREE
10. Louis Vuitton’s latest art exhibition titled “Louis Vuitton X” will have the fashion house digging into their archives to reveal the brand’s most notable collaborations throughout the years. From Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo, Yayoi Kusama to Richard Prince, fans of Louis Vuitton will have a chance to view over 180 items including creations dating back to the early twentieth-century. “Louis Vuitton X” will be on view from June 28 to September 15. 11. Eat|See|Hear returns for 2019 with a screening of Crazy Rich Asians at Los Angeles State Historic Park on Friday and The Greatest Showman for a special Pride Night edition this Saturday. Check for discounted tickets before making your purchase. DISCOUNTED (via Goldstar)
12. Grand Central Market hosts Friday Night Flights this Friday starting at noon. The special includes a flight of drinks or bites from GCM vendors and a round trip ticket on the historic Angels Flight Railway right across the street for $15.
13. Spend the season sipping wine during sunset hour at Barnsdall Art Park’s Friday Night Wine Party Series. Happening on the lawn of architectural gem the Hollyhock House, the evening features a fine selection of wines curated by Silverlake Wine, a live DJ and tours of the house. The series happens every Friday evening till September 6.
14. On the last Friday of each month the California Market Center hosts a public sample sale with hundreds of showrooms offering men, women and children fashion as well as gift and home items at below-retail prices.
15. STRFKR ＋ De Lux perform at FIGFest at FIGat7th in Downtown L.A. FREE
16. Summer Friday Night Drive-In at the Roadium returns every Friday evening from June 7 to August 30 to revive your favorite films in a classic 1950’s drive-in setting. The series continues with a screening of Matilda.
17. Metro Art Presents “The Poet is In,” an interactive poetry experience taking place on Union Station’s North Patio this Friday from 3 – 6 p.m. A dozen local poets will interact with station visitors to create personalized poems based on the conversations. FREE
18. Over three dozen venues such as 2nd Stage, Hudson Theatres, The Broadwater and the Underground Annex Theater host comedy, ensemble theatre, dance and immersive performances during the annual Hollywood Fringe Festival taking place June 13-30.
19. Every Friday evening in June, Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in Claremont hosts Butterflies & Brews where they feature a rotating lineup of local craft beers, music and access to their California Butterfly Pavilion. A ticket cost $15 and includes your first drink.
20. 4th Fridays on 4th Street activates the “Retro Road” business district in Long Beach on the fourth Friday of every month from 6 to 10 p.m. through extended hours, dining specials, discounted merchandise, pop up shops, art shows, live music, double decker bus rides and more.
21. The Greens at the Rose Bowl (the grounds surrounding the stadium) hosts Final Fridays a family friendly event happening on the last Friday (4-8 p.m.) of every month where food trucks, life-size games, stadium tours and so more are offered.
22. Cooper Design Space hosts Last Friday Sales a rare opportunity where showrooms open their doors to the public offering discounts on past seasons, samples and overstock. Keep in-mind showrooms are usually cash only.

23. A Stranger Things-themed Carnival lands at Santa Monica Pier June 29-30 where Pacific Park will be made over as the fictional town Hawkins where the show is based. Highlights at this free carnival include games, 80s cover bands, eating contests, magicians, a Scoops Ahoy ice cream truck and a green-n-gooey dunking booth. FREE
24. The popular annual Hello Kitty Art Show returns to the Corey Helford Gallery with over 100 artists from around the globe focused on examining Hello Kitty and her influence on popular culture. FREE
25. Back for the 16th year in a row, The Independent Shakespeare Co. presents Shakespeare in the Park at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park with a free performance of Twelfth Night. FREE
26. The Hollywood Bowl presents Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in Concert. Watch as Harry and his friends battle the Dark Lords forces right under the stars with a live performance of the original score by the orchestra will sitting in one of the best amphitheaters in the United States.
27. The 10th Annual L.A. Food Fest takes over Santa Anita Park for a tasting experience with signature bites from an awesome roster of chefs plus craft beer gardens, craft cocktail bars, tequila tasting, an iced coffee lounge and an ice cream social. 28. CatCon returns to the Pasadena Convention Center June 29 – 30 for a weekend of feline appreciation and celebration. 30. Pirate Invasion of Long Beach and Mermaid Festival returns to Shoreline Aquatic Park from June 29-30, with thousands of costumed pirates descending from three separate pirate ships. See sword fights, cannon and musket battles, treasure hunts and costume contests all weekend. There will also be a mermaid-themed village with mermaid games, mermaid royalty and more. FREE

31. The Norton Simon Museum will host a summer garden party soirée during magic hour inspired by Monet’s Giverny. There will be live music, refreshments and art-making activities for all ages. The event is free with the cost of museum admission.

33. Summer Film Series at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes screens The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez (1982). FREE
34. Madame Tussauds Hollywood will open up their rooftop for movie screenings this summer season. First up is the coming of age film Crossroads staring Brittany Spears. The screenings are BYOB and folks can bring their own food as well.
35. This Saturday Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams all come to life at the International Printing Museum as part of the annual Independence Day Celebration. The event promises a fun fact-filled day with patriotic keepsakes, tours of the museum, costumed period actors, musical performances and an All-American meal of “Freedom Dogs”, apple pie and “Patriotic Punch.”
36. Last Remaining Seats, the Los Angeles Conservancy’s annual event featuring classic film screenings in some of Los Angeles’ most beautiful vintage movie palaces will hold two screening on Saturday. At 2 p.m. a screening of the 1969 Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and at 8 p.m. the 1976 film Network. Both will take place at The Wiltern.
37. Harold & Belle’s Annual Block Party and Crawfish Boil will once again feature all-you-can-eat New Orleans style cooking, live music and kid friendley activities.
38. NoHo Summer Nights showcases the best emerging musicians in the industry through free concerts all season. FREE
39. Cinespia is back for its 18th summer season, at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery for screenings of films modern, cult, and classic. This Saturday they’ll screen Reality Bites.
40. Independence Day Fiesta with La Tumbadora and The Berendo Middle School Band as part of the Levitt Pavilion Los Angeles concert series. The series continues on Sunday when Band Camp showcases the best of L.A.’s school and community youth bands and orchestras. FREE
Sunday June 30th, 2019
41. Head to LACMA for a special edition of Story Time in the Galleries in conjunction with Drag Queen Story Hour. FREE
42. One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival is a 40-day celebration through mostly free art events and exhibits between May 22 through June 30. This Sunday will be centered around a day of art with poetry pop-ups, readings, performances, panels FREE
43. SAMJAM Venice Block Party is one of the largest music events on the Westside of Los Angeles, focused on music, art, community, and charity. Food trucks, drinks, live art, and fun games round out this popular annual event.
44. This season on the last Sunday of the month the Pike hosts The Long Beach Yoga Festival offering multiple yoga classes, a large Mindful Market place, vegan street food and drinks and kids activities.

45. The Annual Jazz At St. Andrews Park is a free event with live musical performances, a children’s village, dancing, food trucks and a vendor village. FREE
46. Alcove, a beloved Los Feliz cafe with one of the most popular patios in the city, is celebrating their 15th anniversary with a summer-long morning coffee happy hour promotion. From June 1 through September 30 guests can pick up a hot cappuccino, latte, brewed coffee or espresso for only $1.50 every day between 6 to 9 a.m. It’s the perfect way to start a summer morning in L.A.
47. Manhattan Beach Concerts in the Park presents Salute to the Troops – The Satin Dollz at Polliwog Park. FREE
48. E.P. & L.P. in West Hollywood continues their stylish cinema series Melrose Rooftop Theatre with a screening of Us.

Food Pick for the Week

Can you take the heat during Nest at WP24’s “Bring the Heat” five-course chili tasting menu? For a limited time dine on a menu that gets progressively hotter with each dish. The lineup includes Chili Dan Dan Noodles with Fresno Chilies, Salt & Pepper Shrimp with Arbol Chilies, Vietnamese Summer Roll with Thai Bird Chilies, Hamachi Ceviche with Habanero and the spiciest of them all ,a Chicken Chow Fun Noodle cooked with Ghost Chilies (which measures 1,000,000 on the Scoville scale!). For those with a sweet tooth there’s an off menu “Dragon Fire” Peach Cobbler paired with Carolina Reaper Ice Cream, the world’s hottest chili. Each course is served with milk and a waiver. Anyone that finishes all six courses will go home with dragon chopsticks. The “Bring the Heat” tasting menu is $29 per person with an $8 add-on for sixth course.
